About the author

Why should you listen to me?

I am no different than you.  I started my salon over 17 years ago, and Boy Howdy, I have learned a few things over the years.  I write this blog for small salon owners because I think that you shouldn’t have to learn everything the hard way (like I did!) And you should never feel like you are in this alone.

In addition to running a salon and writing this blog and another one, I also serve on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Certified Haircolorists, work as a Guest Artist for Kadus haircolor, and teach workshops for small salon owners to help them level the playing field with the big salons in their market. (Wow!  When I say it all in a row, it sounds like a lot.  I’m tired just thinking about it!)

Never feel like you can’t compete with the big guys!  There are enough clients for everyone.  I promise.

Feel free to leave comments on any post that intrigues you, or email me to suggest topics or ask questions.  I want to help.

Hi there

I run a site Grants For Small Business ( http://grantsforsmallbusinessguide.com ).
I believe it would be beneficial for both of us if we do blogroll link exchange.

Here is the Description for the Link Exchange

Title Grants For Small Business

I found your site while searching around for Touchsutie Salon Information. If I could ask, how do you feel about the Touchsuite system? Have you had any problems with the system, set up or support? I am considering installing the system in our salon. Any information you can forward would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian of From Head to Toe Salon & Spa, Roselle, NJ

Hi there…
I am the VP of Business Development for TouchSuite. I would be more than happy to answer any of your questions or give you any needed information on our system. Feel free to reach out to me @ jscalici@americanbancard.com Thank you…

I noticed your article on genbook’s “free” online scheduling. I own a small company called mycal.com, and we actually do provide completely free online scheduling (unlimited). I think it would be a great service to your following to make them aware of our completely free online scheduling service. My partners and I would be more than happy to chat with you any time. Check out this fun parody video we made that gives the gist of myCal: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDGhvGznc4o

Please feel free to contact me any time at (617) 510-6219 or matt@mycal.com. I’d love to chat.
